Comment on early elections from AK Party member Hamza Dağ: Everyone should focus on their own work.

Comment on early elections from AK Party member Hamza Dağ: Everyone should focus on their own work.

12.12.2024 16:40

AK Party Deputy Chairman Hamza Dağ responded to calls for early elections by saying, "There is no early election on our agenda right now. Everyone should focus on their own work." Dağ also answered a question about whether he would run for the İzmir Metropolitan Municipality in the upcoming term by stating, "Our focus is on 2028."

AK Party's Deputy Chairman responsible for Promotion and Media, Hamza Dağ, participated in the joint broadcast of local channels under the Television Broadcasters Employers Union (TVSEN).

Dağ stated that he has been involved in politics in İzmir for years and emphasized the importance of producing solutions to problems and understanding how politics should be conducted, as well as knowing people's expectations from politics.

Regarding the needs and promises of İzmir in the election campaign, Dağ expressed that the primary necessities of the city should include reducing traffic congestion and urban transformation.

Stating that the aesthetics of the city is as important as people living in solid structures, AK Party Deputy Chairman Dağ reminded that many citizens in İzmir voted for him in the local elections despite having different political views.

WILL HE RUN FOR İBB AGAIN?

Hamza Dağ, drawing attention to the fact that the election results did not create any resentment in him, responded to the question, "Will you run for the İzmir Metropolitan Municipality in the upcoming term?" as follows:

"Our current concentration is on 2028. Just as we concentrated on the 2023 general elections, we are now focusing on the presidential election and general elections in 2028. As a result, we already have an active role in the party. Our priority is completely to bring our party back to the majority in the parliament and to ensure that our presidential candidate becomes the president in the upcoming general elections. This is our goal. What comes after that, just like in this election, is entirely a matter of fate. You might see a much stronger friend emerge during that period, and we would know how to support him until the end."

Dağ argued that İzmir is not where it deserves to be, stating, "This city does not reflect its potential. In fact, I am saying something very clear. If İzmir realizes its current potential, it can contribute to the Turkish economy by growing by 1% every quarter."

EARLY ELECTION COMMENT: EVERYONE SHOULD MIND THEIR OWN BUSINESS

Regarding the opposition's call for early elections, Dağ stated, "Currently, we do not have early elections on our agenda. Our agenda, as you mentioned at the opening, includes developments in foreign policy and the economy. We are focused on that. There is still time until 2028. It is not on the public's agenda either. Everyone should mind their own business. We should do our job. I mean, our cabinet members should do their jobs, the opposition should do its job, and the mayors should do their jobs."

CANDIDACY RACE BETWEEN İMAMOĞLU AND YAVAŞ

Dağ stated that the concentration of Istanbul Metropolitan Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu and Ankara Metropolitan Mayor Mansur Yavaş is currently more on the presidential election than on doing something in their municipalities. "I see that the concentration of the two metropolitan mayors is more on the presidential election than on doing something in their municipalities. It is well known that Ekrem İmamoğlu was behind the operation during Mansur Yavaş's concert incident. We know very well how Murat Ongun and his team carried out a reputation assassination, and we can see that they are also aware of it. Therefore, their concentration, as well as that of other mayors, is not on contributing to their cities but rather on who will be the presidential candidate from us. They are all dreaming about whether they can leave their mayoral positions and come to central administration."

Regarding the fight against inflation, Dağ stated, "The disinflation process will continue in a more challenging manner. Therefore, the biggest issue faced by those with fixed incomes is inflation. Frankly, even if we take steps to reduce inflation, these efforts are difficult as long as inflation continues."

Touching on the discussions about the constitution, Dağ stated that reducing this issue to the re-election of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan is incorrect, and continued his remarks as follows:

"The 1982 Constitution is too restrictive for us, and we need to implement a civil democratic constitution that accommodates such changes. Is the constitution on the public's agenda? We also say that, as I often mention in my broadcasts. Yes, the constitution is not the public's primary agenda. The public does not ask us about the constitution. However, the fact that the constitution is not on the public's agenda does not mean it is not on the political agenda. Politics discusses this. Politics negotiates this. Politics debates this. Politics seeks to make progress on this issue. If it can, it would provide a significant contribution to the country. Temporarily, the arithmetic in the parliament may not be very conducive to this. But that does not mean that politics should not negotiate this. Let's talk about a new constitution."

IS THERE ARROGANCE IN AK PARTY?

In response to the question, "Is there arrogance in the AK Party organization?" AK Party Deputy Chairman Dağ stated, "Arrogance is from the devil. Arrogance is from fire. If you are soil, you show humility. Soil gives something to people. Soil is constructive. Fire is destructive. Arrogance does not suit us, cannot stick to us. It cannot be. This is not just because we are doing politics in the AK Party. It cannot be due to our belief either. The duty we perform cannot mean that we become arrogant. In this regard, regardless of the position in the party, any friend who exhibits signs of arrogance harms not only themselves but also the party."

DAĞ POINTED TO APRIL FOR THE CONGRESS

In response to a question about the date of the AK Party's Grand Congress, AK Party's Dağ pointed to April, stating, "We will finish the congresses in the provinces by the end of February. Since our President particularly desires to visit the 30 metropolitan cities, we will naturally need to spread this over some time. Therefore, we will need to plan the provinces that our President will attend by the end of February. March is the month of Ramadan. After we hold the congresses of our youth and women's branches, we will hold our grand congress."

"AK PARTY IS EVOLVING THROUGH CHANGE"

In response to the question, "Should we expect a change?" AK Party Deputy Chairman Dağ stated, "This is not the first time such a process is happening in the AK Party."```html

AK Party is evolving continuously. This change should not be interpreted as, 'the units and individuals in this matter have failed, we are setting them aside.' A relay race has come this far. Managing for 22 years, especially as a ruling party, is not an easy task. In the congress, the MYK, MKYK, parliamentary group, and cabinet are all completely under the authority of our President. It will be a situation that will proceed in a manner separate from the individuals, in a structure and system determined by him, on a timeline he will set himself." he stated.

EMPHASIS ON STABILITY IN SYRIA

Addressing the developments in Syria, Dağ said, "The existence of stability and territorial integrity in Syria is entirely related to the moves we have continuously defended and made, and all the work we have done in the process is aimed at living peacefully in our own country."

Criticizing the opposition's policies regarding the Syrian issue, Dağ stated, "There have been very harsh criticisms from the opposition. We have also seen the opposition's proposals that are truly astonishing and very clever! On Friday, Özgür Özel, from Kilis, right at the border of Syria, said, 'Talk to Assad,' and it is indeed significant that Assad fled Syria just because Özgür Özel said this." he remarked.
