Turkey, Egypt, Pakistan, and Saudi Arabia condemned "in the strongest terms" the hostile attacks by the Iran-backed Houthis in Yemen against Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia. The four countries demanded the immediate and unconditional cessation of the attacks, holding the Houthis responsible for all negative repercussions threatening regional and international peace and security. The statement also stressed full support for the legitimate steps Saudi Arabia would take to ensure its security.
The Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Türkiye, Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Pakistan, issued a joint statement regarding the attacks by Iran-backed Houthis in Yemen targeting King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh.
The statement said, "It most strongly condemns the ongoing hostile attacks carried out by the Houthis against Saudi Arabia, including the heinous attacks targeting King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, which caused the death and injury of civilians, as well as damage to civilian infrastructure and facilities, and which constitute a clear violation of international law."
“THE ATTACKS CANNOT BE JUSTIFIED ON ANY GROUNDS”
In the statement, which noted that these attacks are a clear violation of Saudi Arabia's sovereignty and territorial integrity and pose a direct threat to Saudi Arabia's security, stability and the safety of civilians, it was emphasized that the R4 group countries once again confirmed that these attacks "constitute a dangerous escalation that cannot be justified or accepted on any grounds."
The statement noted that the R4 group countries once again emphasized their solidarity with and support for Saudi Arabia, including full support for all legitimate measures and steps it has taken, within the framework of the United Nations Charter and international law, to defend Saudi Arabia's security, sovereignty and territorial integrity, protect the safety of its citizens and residents, counter these attacks, deter the sources of threat and prevent their recurrence.
“THE HOUTHIS ARE ENTIRELY RESPONSIBLE”
In the statement, which recorded that the group holds the Houthis entirely responsible for the consequences of these attacks and all their negative repercussions threatening regional and international peace and security, it demanded that the attacks be stopped immediately and unconditionally.
In the attacks on King Khalid International Airport, 13 people lost their lives and more than 300 were injured.
