14 irregular migrants were found in a vehicle stopped by police teams on suspicion in the Uzunköprü district of Edirne. While the migrants, who are nationals of Iraq, Iran, Ethiopia and Eritrea, were handed over to the Provincial Directorate of Migration, the vehicle's driver was detained on suspicion of migrant smuggling.
In the Uzunköprü district of Edirne, 14 irregular migrants from different countries were detected in a vehicle stopped by police teams on suspicion. The driver of the vehicle was detained on charges of migrant smuggling.
SUSPICIOUS VEHICLE PUT UNDER SURVEILLANCE
During their work within the scope of combating irregular migration and migrant smuggling, teams from the Uzunköprü District Police Department received information that irregular migrants were in a vehicle traveling from the direction of Havsa toward Uzunköprü.
Acting on the information, the teams stopped and checked the vehicle they had placed under surveillance on the Yeniköy-Uzunköprü road.
THEY TURNED OUT TO BE NATIONALS OF 4 DIFFERENT COUNTRIES
In the examination carried out in the vehicle, a total of 14 irregular migrants were caught, including 3 Iraqi, 3 Iranian, 4 Ethiopian and 4 Eritrean nationals.
The captured migrants were handed over to the Edirne Provincial Directorate of Migration Management for processing.
DRIVER DETAINED
A.R.K., who was driving the vehicle, was detained on charges of migrant smuggling. Legal proceedings were initiated against the suspect.
