Ali Babacan, the leader of the DEVA Party, who was a guest on Haberler.com, stated regarding the 6-party coalition established in 2022, "We are aware of our mistakes there. We are not in a position to repeat those same mistakes."

DEVA Party Chairman Ali Babacan answered the questions of the moderators of the program published on Haberler.com, Haberler.com Editor-in-Chief Av. Bedia Teymur and presenter Melis Yaşar.

"THERE ARE OTHER POLITICAL PARTIES WE ARE IN DISCUSSION WITH"

Babacan stated that there is no definitive situation regarding the establishment of a joint group with the Saadet and Gelecek Parties, saying, "The merger of these parties does not mean becoming a single party. The aim is not just to create a group there."

Indicating that three parties would not be sufficient, Babacan said, "There are other political parties we are in discussion with. We aim to expand this front in cooperation with other political parties and present a stronger unity and solidarity to our citizens. We believe this will be very important for Turkey."

"WE COULD NOT ESTABLISH TRUST AMONG CITIZENS"

In response to Bedia Teymur's question, "What difference will the new formation have from the 6-party table?", Babacan noted that the composition of the 6-party table is very different. Expressing that they made great efforts, Babacan stated, "However, we could not establish the trust among our citizens that 'these people can manage this country without conflict and noise.'

"WE ARE AWARE OF OUR MISTAKES IN THE 6-PARTY TABLE"

Despite everything, Babacan reminded that the 6-party table's presidential candidate Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu received 48% of the votes, saying, "This means that if principles and goals are set firmly and there is a harmonious working environment, success can be achieved. We learned a lot from there. We are aware of our mistakes there. We are also aware that we do not have the situation to repeat those mistakes."

The 6-party table was established as a result of a meeting held on February 12, 2022, by the CHP, İYİ Party, Saadet Party, Democrat Party, DEVA Party, and Gelecek Party. Initially a separate formation from the Nation Alliance, the 6-party table first defined itself as the "Nation Alliance" after its 11th meeting on January 26, 2023. At that time, the then-CHP leader Meral Akşener decided to leave the table by not supporting Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu's candidacy for the presidency on March 3, 2023, but returned three days later. On the same day, it was announced that Kılıçdaroğlu was the common candidate of the alliance.
