Acun Ilıcalı, former vice president of Fenerbahçe, made striking statements about Turkish football and the yellow-dark blue community. Ilıcalı harshly targeted both the referees and the culture of criticism within Fenerbahçe.
“I DON’T THINK THE LEAGUE IS FAIR”
Speaking on Cüneyt Özdemir’s YouTube channel, Acun Ilıcalı argued that there is no fair system in the Super League. Ilıcalı said, “I don’t think the league in Turkey is fair. I will never think so. There is sporting failure, but I don’t think it is a very fair system.”
“REFEREES DRIVE YOU CRAZY”
Speaking harshly about Turkish referees, Ilıcalı said, “The mistakes made by Turkish referees either make you angry or drive you insane.” The statements quickly caused a huge uproar in the football community.

Acun Ilıcalı also drew attention to the culture of criticism within the Fenerbahçe community. Stating that the biggest problem of the yellow-dark blue club is its internal structure, Ilıcalı said, “Fenerbahçe’s real problem is its own internal enemies.”
GAVE THE EXAMPLE OF TALISCA
Drawing attention to the intensity of criticism, Ilıcalı cited Anderson Talisca as an example. “Talisca scores 30 goals but is still being debated. You could score 50 goals and still be criticized. That’s the mentality at Fenerbahçe,” he said.
TEDESCO’S WORDS DREW ATTENTION
Speaking about this season’s head coach Tedesco, Ilıcalı said, “No offence to our coach, but he was not successful. Draws, draws… I have nothing to say about his character, but some say this coach should have stayed.”
