In an operation organized in 15 provinces centered in Istanbul, 27 suspects were detained for their involvement in a scheme where heavily damaged and wrecked vehicles were shown as intact through fake expert reports to obtain loans.

A total of 27 suspects were detained in an operation targeting allegations that heavily damaged and crashed vehicles were shown as intact using fake expert reports to secure loans across 15 provinces, centered in Istanbul. The Istanbul Police Department's Financial Crimes Branch teams, coordinated by the Bakırköy Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, launched an investigation into the crime of 'organized loan fraud'. Within the scope of the investigation, it was determined that members of the organization divided tasks including the procurement of crashed and damaged vehicles, identification of individuals to be used in loan processes, and execution of expert evaluation procedures. Upon review of obtained documents and evidence, it was established that the suspects, acting in an organized manner, caused losses to the intermediary institution by preparing fraudulent expert reports and failing to repay the loans used.

Investigations revealed that some vehicles with severe damage, damaged by earthquakes, or involved in traffic accidents were shown as damage-free or intact through false reports issued by linked expert companies. It was learned that among the vehicles were some previously covered by the press. After completing the studies, teams carried out simultaneous operations this morning centered in Istanbul, including in Kocaeli, Gaziantep, Sakarya, Mardin, Bursa, Manisa, Şanlıurfa, Erzurum, Muğla, Adana, Aksaray, İzmir, Ankara, and Iğdır. In the operation, 27 suspects, including expert dealer officials, were taken into custody.
