Striking details have emerged about the behind-the-scenes of the fight between Second President Metin Öztürk and Abdullah Kavukcu in the Galatasaray management, which resulted in the resignation of both figures. It was claimed that the disagreement that began in the yellow-red management over referral to the disciplinary board turned into a heated argument. While it was stated that President Dursun Özbek's attempt to reconcile the parties remained inconclusive, calls for an early election came to the agenda following the developments. Here are the details...

According to the news in Milliyet, at the Galatasaray Board of Directors meeting on October 27, the issue of referring Onur Meral to the Disciplinary Board, who was alleged to have insulted club member Ayhan Özmızrak, was discussed.

After Özmızrak's petition was processed, disagreements arose within the board. It was reported that Metin Öztürk argued, "His being opposed to us does not give another member the right to insult him. According to the bylaws, we need to refer him to discipline."

METİN ÖZTÜRK AND ABDULLAH KAVUKCU CAME FACE TO FACE

It was claimed that Abdullah Kavukcu, drawing attention to Ayhan Özmızrak's oppositional identity, argued that the member alleged to have insulted him should not be referred to the Disciplinary Board.

Thereupon, it was stated that Metin Öztürk objected, saying, "Ayhan Özmızrak's being opposed does not give anyone the right to insult him," and a heated argument took place between the two executives.

DURSUN ÖZBEK WANTED TO RECONCILE THEM

After the argument, it was reported that Galatasaray President Dursun Özbek intervened. Özbek was said to have stated, "Let Metin also come to Kemerburgaz on October 29, the matter will be resolved. I will reconcile them there." However, it was learned that Metin Öztürk did not go to Kemerburgaz, and Abdullah Kavukcu said, "If he comes, I won't come either."

It was reported that Öztürk also did not respond positively to calls from other executives to withdraw his resignation and stood behind his decision.

THE FENERBAHÇE DETAIL ALSO EMERGED

According to the news in Türkiye Gazetesi, the Fenerbahçe detail was also influential in the argument between the two executives. It was claimed that Abdullah Kavukcu reacted sharply to Metin Öztürk sitting side by side with Fenerbahçe Deputy President Barış Göktürk in the protocol stand at the derby.

It was stated that Kavukcu criticized Öztürk by recalling Göktürk's past statements targeting him and Galatasaray. The report claimed that the argument between the two executives escalated to physical intervention.

BOTH EXECUTIVES SUBMITTED THEIR RESIGNATIONS

Following the developments, Galatasaray Second President Metin Öztürk and Abdullah Kavukcu submitted their resignations on Sunday, November 1. In his statement regarding the incident, Metin Öztürk said, "My upbringing does not allow me to accept the actual attack that took place at the meeting and the act that turned into an insult to my deceased mother." Abdullah Kavukcu, on the other hand, announced his resignation, saying, "I do not want to harm the unity of our community."

EARLY ELECTION PRESSURE AT GALATASARAY

According to a report by Türkiye Gazetesi, after the successive departures in the board, pressure for an early election began against President Dursun Özbek. The report stated that executive Ömer Sarıgül was being tried in detention in a money laundering investigation, while Maruf Güneş was released after a betting investigation in which his name was mentioned.

Finally, with the resignation of Metin Öztürk and Abdullah Kavukcu as well, it was claimed that leading figures of the community called on Dursun Özbek to "make a strong list and go to an early election."

Meanwhile, Kavukcu argued that the events were conveyed to the public with exaggerated statements that did not reflect the truth. Thus, the difference between the two executives' statements regarding the nature of the argument also drew attention.

WHAT HAD HAPPENED?

Galatasaray Second President Metin Öztürk announced during the day that, due to the incidents at the board of directors meeting held on October 27, he had resigned from his membership on the yellow-red club's board of directors and from his board memberships in its affiliated companies.

In his statement on the matter on his social media account, Metin Öztürk said, "Neither my Galatasaray upbringing nor the upbringing I received from my mother and father allows me to accept the actual attack that took place at our board of directors meeting dated October 27 and the act that turned into an insult to my deceased mother. As of today, I am resigning from my memberships on the Galatasaray board of directors and in affiliated companies."
