The dispute between former CHP Muğla MP Fahrettin Üstün and his sister Sibel Üstün over the care of their mother Sevim Üstün turned into a gendarmerie matter. While Sibel Üstün claimed her brother did not let her into the house and had the door opened by a locksmith accompanied by gendarmerie, Fahrettin Üstün argued that all allegations were unfounded.

According to a claim in the Çomakdağ-Kızılağaç neighborhood of Muğla's Milas district; there has been a disagreement between siblings for some time due to the care process of their mother, Sevim Üstün. Sibel Üstün alleged that she wanted to go home to visit her mother, but her brother Fahrettin Üstün prevented her from entering the house.

SISTER FILES COMPLAINT AGAINST FORMER CHP DEPUTY BROTHER

Sibel Üstün stated that when she arrived home, she saw the front door was locked with a padlock, and she requested help from the gendarmerie to avoid any incident. It was learned that after the gendarmerie teams arrived at the scene, the door was opened with the help of a locksmith, and they reached Sevim Üstün and her Azerbaijani caregiver Gültekin Hüseynova. After Sibel Üstün filed a complaint, former CHP Deputy Fahrettin Üstün went to the gendarmerie and gave his statement regarding the incident.

"HE TOLD ME IT WOULDN'T BE GOOD IF I CAME HOME"

Sibel Üstün stated that there has been an ongoing disagreement between the siblings regarding their mother's care for about three months. Expressing that they have experienced similar problems before, Sibel Üstün said that when she wanted to go home to visit her mother, her brother Fahrettin Üstün sent her messages through acquaintances and relatives, saying, "He told me not to enter the house, that I should leave before he arrived, and that I could only see our mother for two hours and then leave. He threatened me about this; he conveyed that it wouldn't be good if I came home. When I arrived, I found that the entrance door was locked from the outside with a padlock. I informed the gendarmerie as a precaution," she said.

"WE HAD THE DOOR OPENED UNDER GENDARMERIE SUPERVISION"

Sibel Üstün categorically denied the allegations of assault against the caregiver, saying, "Was the caregiver assaulted? No, there is absolutely no such thing. On the contrary, the caregiver loves and respects my brother very much. Was my mother assaulted? I didn't see anything with my own eyes. According to the caregiver, my mother has small bruises on her arms because she falls frequently; I saw those bruises. I had the house door opened under gendarmerie supervision. I also have a share in the house. It is a house where my mother resides and lives. I proved my share, we opened the door and entered, and I saw my mother," she said.

"MY MOTHER'S PENSION IS UNDER MY BROTHER'S CONTROL"

Emphasizing that she does not receive her mother's pension, Sibel Üstün stated that the pension is under her brother's control and that the household needs are met with this pension. Üstün expressed that she cared for her mother for 6 years and can prove this with documents, saying, "Because I was very tired, I would tell my sister, 'Come, you take care for 10 days.' My mother's pension is outside my control; all control is with my brother. The issue here is that my brother does not want us to come home. My brother has been living here for 20 years. This is entirely a family matter, and the case has been referred to the judiciary," she explained.

"WHAT IS SAID IS COMPLETELY LIES AND SLANDER"

Stating that the issue is entirely based on allegations and that such a problem exists in his family, former CHP Muğla Deputy Fahrettin Üstün said he did not want to give an interview on the matter, adding, "Since my term as a deputy ended in 2007, I have been with my mother. What is being said and written is completely lies and slander. I have given statements to both the gendarmerie and the prosecutor. I went and did that. You can ask anyone in the village about this issue. The locked place is the courtyard door. My mother has Alzheimer's. What is written and the allegations put forward are baseless," he said.
