Under the chairmanship of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, the Cyber Security Board, which convened on October 27, 2026, took important decisions aimed at strengthening Türkiye's security in the digital field. At the meeting, particular emphasis was placed on artificial intelligence, digital sovereignty and national cyber security capacity.

CRITICAL MEETING UNDER PRESIDENT ERDOĞAN'S CHAIRMANSHIP

According to the statement by the Presidency's Directorate of Communications, the Cyber Security Board convened under the chairmanship of President Erdoğan. The effects of global and regional developments on cyber security were assessed at the meeting. Current cyber security incidents in the international arena and changing threat elements were addressed comprehensively. Increasing Türkiye's resilience against cyber attacks was among the important topics of the discussions.

AI-DRIVEN THREATS DISCUSSED

One of the notable topics of the meeting was developments in artificial intelligence technologies. The Board was briefed on how artificial intelligence is changing the nature, speed of spread and scope of impact of cyber threats. Manipulation activities carried out through algorithms used on digital platforms were also assessed. The risks of algorithmic manipulation and cognitive influence activities on national security and societal resilience were addressed at the meeting.

TÜRKİYE'S DIGITAL SOVEREIGNTY STRATEGY PRESENTED

At the meeting, the Digital Sovereignty Strategy prepared to strengthen Türkiye's technological independence was presented to the Cyber Security Board. Among the strategy's main objectives were reducing foreign dependency in critical technologies, developing national technology capacity and strengthening Türkiye's sovereignty in the digital field. The protection of critical infrastructures and increasing deterrence capacity against cyber threats were also assessed among the strategic priorities.

DECISIONS TAKEN WILL BE IMPLEMENTED

At the Board, it was decided that the decisions taken in line with the Digital Sovereignty Strategy would be implemented by the relevant institutions and organizations. Implementation processes will be closely monitored and progress will be regularly assessed. Thus, the aim is to ensure that the set strategic objectives do not remain only at the planning stage but are implemented within the framework of the responsibilities of the relevant institutions.

COOPERATION BETWEEN PUBLIC AND PRIVATE SECTOR WILL BE INCREASED

Because cyber threats can affect different sectors simultaneously, it was decided to strengthen coordination among institutions. Emphasis was placed on improving cooperation among public institutions, the private sector and academia. The aim is to increase joint risk assessment capabilities and ensure unity in cyber security practices. At the meeting, Türkiye's determination to create a holistic cyber security ecosystem was also emphasized.
