Critical negotiations for retirement pensions are starting.

The Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) will discuss important regulations throughout the new week. The bill proposing to raise the minimum pension to 14,469 Turkish lira will also be debated in the General Assembly this week.

The Parliament is entering a new week with a busy agenda. The General Assembly will start its weekly work on Tuesday, January 28, and will begin discussions on the Proposal for a Law Amending Certain Laws, which includes regulations related to the economy.

THE LOWEST RETIREMENT PENSION WILL BE DISCUSSED

According to the proposal, the lowest retirement pension will be increased from 12,500 lira to 14,469 lira, effective from the payment period of January 2025. Employers will receive a minimum wage support of 33.33 lira per day and 1,000 lira per month during the January-December period.

EÜAŞ will carry out energy purchase and sale agreements signed under existing contracts involving TETAŞ; it will be able to sign agreements for electricity exchange, import, and export, as well as energy purchase and sale agreements.

The Savings Deposit Insurance Fund (TMSF) may appoint a trustee for a period of 5 years if it is decided that there are strong suspicions regarding the commission of crimes defined under the Turkish Penal Code and the Law on the Prevention of the Financing of Terrorism.

WHAT'S ON THE AGENDA OF THE COMMISSION?

Specialized and research commissions will also convene to address the issues on the agenda. Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu will inform the members of parliament in the Human Rights Inquiry Commission about "Dangers to Children on Digital Platforms." Officials from the Information Technologies and Communications Authority (BTK) will make a presentation in the Research Commission on Violence Against Women and Discrimination.

THE ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE BOARD WILL MEET

The newly established Artificial Intelligence Research Commission will also convene to determine its work schedule. Group meetings of political parties with representation in the Parliament will be held on Tuesday and Wednesday. President and AK Party Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan will address the members of parliament at his party's group meeting.
