The 14-year-old son of famous Italian chef Andrea Minguzzi and cellist Yasemin Akıncılar, Mattia Ahmet Minguzzi, was attacked by two children with knives at a flea market in Kadıköy, Istanbul. Minguzzi, who suffered five stab wounds to the chest and was kicked on the ground while bleeding, is fighting for his life in intensive care.
Minguzzi, who lives in Beyoğlu with his family and is an 8th-grade student at the Private Italian High School, went to the flea market set up in Kadıköy Tuesday Market to buy skateboarding equipment with his friends. However, this ordinary shopping trip turned into a horrific attack.
SHOULDERED AND TOLD "YOU'RE VERY HANDSOME"
According to a report in the Sabah newspaper, a person at the market shoulder-bumped Minguzzi and said, "You're very handsome." After Minguzzi replied, "Excuse me, brother," the attacker returned with a knife after a few meters and targeted the young man by saying, "How am I your brother?"
5 STAB WOUNDS TO HIS CHEST
The attacker, B.B. (15), stabbed Minguzzi in the chest 5 times with the knife he had. At that moment, another attacker, U.B. (16), who was with him, kicked the young man who was lying on the ground in a pool of blood. The incident was captured moment by moment by the security cameras in the market, and the attackers quickly fled the scene before the shopkeepers could intervene. A female doctor present at the scene provided the first aid to the unfortunate child. The doctor, who kept Minguzzi alive with heart massage and artificial respiration, sustained the young boy until the ambulance arrived. Minguzzi was taken to Göztepe City Hospital and admitted to intensive care.
HE IS STILL IN CRITICAL CONDITION
A total of 9 units of blood were given to Mattia Ahmet Minguzzi, who underwent surgery. It was learned that the stab wounds he received damaged his lungs, kidneys, and heart, and that he remains in critical condition. His family is waiting for prayers for the young boy who is being treated in intensive care.
THE ATTACKERS WERE CAPTURED
After the incident, the Istanbul Public Security Branch's Homicide Bureau and Kadıköy Public Security Bureau teams quickly captured the attackers. It was determined that B.B., who carried out the attack, had one, and U.B. had two separate criminal records. After being handed over to the Child Protection Bureau, the two suspects were arrested by the court they were brought before.
"MY GRANDSON WAS A BRIGHT CHILD"
The young boy's grandmother, Aynur Akıncılar, stated that she sought help from Health Minister Kemal Memişoğlu via social media on the day of the incident. Expressing that she was in shock from the incident, Akıncılar said, "My grandson was a bright child. He wouldn't harm anyone. They had returned to Istanbul after staying in Malta for a year. A child who speaks three languages and has dual citizenship. We are grateful to those who helped him. We are waiting for prayers from everyone."
"WE HAVE NOT LOST HOPE"
Famous Italian chef Andrea Minguzzi experienced emotional moments while making a statement about his son's condition. "My son took money from his mother to buy skateboard parts. They set off for the market early in the morning. This incident is truly horrifying. Our doctors are doing their best, but unfortunately, there is nothing we can do. We are entrusted to prayers and doctors," he said. After this tragic incident, all eyes are on the health status of the young boy. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
