AK Party Deputy Chairman Hüseyin Yayman stated that the Terror-Free Turkey process is a state and nation policy and that new regulations may come to the agenda soon. Referring to the new constitution efforts, Yayman expressed that Turkey now needs a civil and democratic constitution.
“TERROR-FREE TURKEY PROCESS PROGRESSING DETERMINEDLY”
AK Party Deputy Chairman Hüseyin Yayman, stating that the Terror-Free Turkey issue is a state and nation policy, said, “There are those who want to obstruct, those who oppose this process, those who do not want the weapons to be laid down. Despite those who want the conflicts to continue, those who want to obstruct this process from inside and outside, the Terror-Free Turkey process has been progressing slowly but surely for 1.5 years. New regulations are on the agenda soon.”
Speaking at the “Politics, Economy, Civilization Meetings” organized by the Istanbul Surici Group Association at a hotel in Fatih, Yayman said that the gathering, held for the 314th time, was an important success and a record.
AK PARTY'S 25-YEAR JOURNEY
In his speech titled “The Role of AK Party in Turkey's Future,” Yayman touched on Turkey's recent political history, stating that past coups as well as the Fethullahist Terrorist Organization's (FETÖ) coup attempt on July 15, 2016, opened a different page in Turkish democratic history.
Noting that a new era began with the AK Party government on November 3, 2002, moving from an understanding that saw the nation as a threat and kept distance from the state, Yayman recalled President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's words, “Nothing will ever be the same again.”
Reminding that AK Party will celebrate its 25th anniversary in August, Yayman said, “We, citizens of the experienced Republic of Turkey, could not even imagine what a 25-year government would be like. If you had us write it, we couldn't have written it.”
Yayman stated that Turkey has moved away from the political and administrative instabilities it experienced in the past, saying, “We were always taught like this: 'Turkey is a difficult country to govern; it has the largest land area in Europe, the largest population in Europe. At the root of Turkey's problems is a lack of will; when there is will, these problems can be solved.' Turkey has now become one of the countries envied in the world, moving away from long-term political instability, long-term administrative instability, and social instability, from periods of civil war and fratricidal conflicts.”
EMPHASIS ON NEW CONSTITUTION
Stating that discussions on a new constitution continue, Yayman said, “Thank God, the spirit of that coup-born constitution has been lifted from Turkey. Today, there are current problems in Turkey, but no one is falling into pessimism or hopelessness thinking, 'These problems cannot be solved; we need to seek another will to solve them.' We are trying to find all solutions through democracy, free elections, and discussions among ourselves.”
“IRAN'S RESISTANCE BECAME THE VOICE OF THE OPPRESSED”
Yayman also touched on investments made during the AK Party era, stating that Turkey ranks second in the world in UAV and SİHA production.
Pointing out the importance of the defense industry, Yayman evaluated, “This is very important. The path to full independence passes through a strong Turkey, and the path to this strong Turkey first passes through domestic and national defense systems. We see this more concretely in the attack on Iran. In other words, Iran's resistance against the attacks of the murderer Israel together with the USA has become the voice not only of the Iranian people but also of the entire Islamic geography and the oppressed.”
“EVERYONE LOOKS AT WHAT TURKEY WILL SAY”
Stating that pessimistic assessments about Turkey's future were made in the past, Yayman said that today Turkey's stance in international developments is closely followed.
Yayman said, “Today, whether in the Russia-Ukraine war, in the issue of murderer Israel's attack on Iran, or in the developments in Syria, everyone looks to see, 'What will Turkey say, what will Tayyip Erdoğan say?' What is AK Party's 25-year story? First, standing on the right side of history in all events. Our President was a person who suffered greatly from political engineering and social engineering, and he always opposed political and social engineering.”
“AK PARTY COMPETES WITH ITSELF”
Stating that President Erdoğan has always advocated for reform and innovation, Yayman said that AK Party will continue to be influential in Turkish politics for many years.
Yayman said, “Looking at the political atmosphere in Turkey and the crisis the opposition has entered, hopefully, with the support and belief of the people, AK Party will be in Turkey's future first until 2053 and then until 2071. The political ideas and thoughts that AK Party represents will continue because Turkey's destiny has become equivalent to our President's destiny, and our President's destiny has become equivalent to Turkey's destiny. We always advocate this: Sovereignty belongs unconditionally to the nation. Nothing happens against the nation.”
Yayman said, “We always say this: AK Party's rival is not the Republican People's Party, not the opposition. AK Party's rival is AK Party; AK Party is competing with itself. Our quest and effort to make the 21st century Turkey's century, to bring Turkey to its deserved place in the world league, and to make it a global power will continue.”
NEW REGULATIONS ON TERROR-FREE TURKEY PROCESS ON AGENDA
After the program, Yayman answered questions and made evaluations regarding the Terror-Free Turkey process.
Yayman stated, “The Terror-Free Turkey issue is a state and nation policy. There are those who want to obstruct, those who oppose this process, those who do not want the weapons to be laid down. Despite those who want the conflicts to continue, those who want to obstruct this process from inside and outside, the Terror-Free Turkey process has been progressing slowly but surely for 1.5 years.”
}New regulations are on the agenda soon," he said.
"TURKEY NEEDS A NEW CONSTITUTION"
Touching on the need for a new constitution, Yayman stated, "Turkey needs a new constitution like bread, water, and air. Because this coup constitution has been significantly changed, but it is essential for Turkey to now create a civilized constitution. This is a matter of Turkey's brotherhood."
The program was attended by AK Party Deputy Chairman of Culture and Arts Policies Şeyhmus Dinçel, AK Party Central Decision and Executive Board Member Hilmi Türkmen, Gaziosmanpaşa District Governor İskender Yönden, President of the Istanbul Suriçi Group Association Nedim Abi, academics, and businesspeople.
