In the Erdemli district of Mersin, 21-year-old lawyer Tuğçe Şen, who was trying to cross the D-400 highway, died after being struck by a car and taken to hospital. The driver, who fled the scene after the accident, was caught and taken into custody as a result of police efforts.

STRUCK BY A CAR WHILE TRYING TO CROSS THE ROAD
The accident occurred on the D-400 highway passing through the Erdemli district of Mersin. According to the information obtained, the car with license plate 27 AOU 439, driven by Uğur D., struck young lawyer Tuğçe Şen at high speed as she was trying to cross the road. Due to the impact, the young woman was thrown onto the road and severely injured.
COULD NOT BE SAVED DESPITE ALL INTERVENTIONS
Following reports from nearby citizens, 112 Emergency Health and police teams were quickly dispatched to the accident scene. Severely injured Şen received initial first aid from health personnel at the scene and was then taken by ambulance to Erdemli State Hospital. After initial treatment there, the unfortunate lawyer, whose condition remained critical, was transferred to Mersin City Training and Research Hospital. However, 21-year-old Tuğçe Şen could not be saved despite all interventions by doctors at the hospital and passed away.
THE FLEEING DRIVER WAS CAUGHT
Following the tragic accident, the driver Uğur D., who fled the scene in his vehicle, was quickly apprehended and taken into custody as a result of meticulous efforts by police teams. It was learned that the suspect, now in custody, is undergoing processing at the police station. The judicial investigation launched into the incident is ongoing.
