Security measures in Ankara have been raised to the highest level ahead of the NATO Leaders Summit. Numerous roads across the city have been closed to traffic, and a broad security perimeter has been established around the areas where the leaders will stay. The hotel where US President Donald Trump will stay has been completely shut down and allocated solely to Trump and his approximately 1,000-strong team. It was reported that Trump's 190-square-meter presidential suite is protected with bulletproof glass and walls resistant to bomb attacks.
Ankara has turned into the center of diplomatic traffic with extraordinary security measures ahead of the 36th NATO Leaders Summit, to be held on July 7-8. Within the scope of the summit, some roads in the city have been closed to traffic, and a security perimeter has been established around the areas where leaders will stay. The hotel where US President Donald Trump will stay has been completely closed.
NATO ALERT IN ANKARA
The capital Ankara has entered a critical week for the 36th NATO Heads of State and Government Summit. Due to the summit, security and traffic measures have been raised to the highest level across the city.
According to the statement from the Ankara Governorate, traffic restrictions will be implemented on certain routes to ensure summit security, maintain public order, and sustain the peace of citizens.
RESTRICTIONS ON CRITICAL ROUTES
Between July 6-9, measures will be applied on the routes to be used by leaders, starting from Esenboğa Airport and Ankara Etimesgut Airport, as well as around event areas.
Controlled crossings will be implemented on some sections of the Ankara Ring Road, Mevlana Boulevard, Özal Boulevard, İsmet İnönü Boulevard, Dumlupınar Boulevard, Anadolu Boulevard, Atatürk Boulevard, 1071 Malazgirt Boulevard, Söğütözü Street, Beştepe Street, and around the Presidential Complex.
INTENSE SECURITY AROUND HOTELS
The surroundings of hotels where leaders and delegations will stay have also been included in security measures. Scooter-type vehicles will not be allowed to enter hotel areas, and parked vehicles will be removed. Within the scope of security measures, traffic flow will be controlled on the transit routes of delegations.
TRUMP'S HOTEL COMPLETELY CLOSED
A special security plan has also been prepared for US President Donald Trump, who will come to Ankara for the summit. The hotel where Trump will stay has been completely closed.
According to received information, only Trump and his team of approximately 1,000 people will stay at the hotel. No other guests will be accepted at the hotel.
HIGH-LEVEL PROTECTION IN THE PRESIDENTIAL SUITE
Security measures in the 190-square-meter presidential suite where Trump will stay are noteworthy. It is stated that the suite is protected with bulletproof glass and walls resistant to bomb attacks.
The hotel's security will be provided by the US Secret Service during the summit. Turkish security units will also coordinate duties around the hotel and on routes.
NO FLY ZONE IN THE CAPITAL
Throughout the NATO Summit, high-level security will be implemented in Ankara, both on the transit routes of leaders and in meeting and accommodation areas. While traffic flow will be controlled in the capital, citizens will be asked to use alternative routes.
