Famous TV personality Acun Ilıcalı and seven channel executives, who were sued with a request for up to 5 years and 3 months in prison for allegedly broadcasting illegal betting ads during some football matches on his television channel and digital platform, were acquitted in the hearing held at the Istanbul 25th Criminal Court of First Instance.
A verdict has been reached in the case where Acun Ilıcalı, along with 7 channel and platform managers, were put on trial following an investigation into allegations that advertisements for 'illegal betting' were featured during some football matches on the television channel he owns. The court ruled for the acquittal of Acun Ilıcalı.
In the indictment prepared as a result of the investigation into Acun Ilıcalı, as well as the executives of the television channel and digital platform he owns, on allegations of 'encouraging people through illegal betting advertisements', it was demanded that 8 people, including Ilıcalı, be sentenced to imprisonment ranging from 1 year and 3 months to 5 years and 3 months. The verdict was announced at the hearing held at the Istanbul 25th Criminal Court of First Instance.
