A verdict has been issued in the case concerning the death of Murat Kara, a father of three, in an armed attack on a street wedding in Gaziantep in 2023. The court sentenced brothers Duran U. and Salih U. to life imprisonment separately for intentional homicide. The child E.U., who was driven to crime, was sentenced to a total of 25 years and 11 months in prison. According to the allegation, the attack was carried out by relatives of the bride's ex-husband.

The final hearing of the case concerning the death of Murat Kara, a father of three, in an armed attack on a street wedding in Gaziantep in 2023 was held at the Gaziantep 6th High Criminal Court. The deceased's family, the deceased's lawyer, the defendants and the defendants' lawyers were present at the hearing. Taking the floor at the hearing, the deceased's family demanded that the perpetrators receive the heaviest penalty.
Making their final defenses at the hearing, the defendants requested acquittal and release.
Announcing its opinion on the merits, the prosecutor requested that Salih U., Emin U. and Duran U. be sentenced to life imprisonment for the crime of 'premeditated intentional killing' regarding the killing of Murat Kara, and that they be sentenced for the crime of 'attempted intentional killing' for İbrahim B., who was injured at the wedding.
LIFE IMPRISONMENT FOR 2 BROTHERS
The court panel sentenced brothers Duran U. and Salih U. to life imprisonment separately for the crime of 'intentional killing'. The defendants were sentenced to 14 years in prison for the crime of attempted killing of İbrahim B. The juvenile offender E.U. was sentenced to 15 years in prison for the crime of 'intentional killing' of Murat Kara, 9 years 4 months for attempted killing of İbrahim B., and, together with the sentences received for other crimes, to a total of 25 years 11 months in prison, and it was ruled that the defendants' detention status would continue.
RANDOM SHOTS FIRED AT THE WEDDING AREA
The incident occurred on November 24, 2023, in the Aydıntepe Neighborhood of Şehitkamil district. According to the allegation, an armed attack was carried out on a street wedding held in the neighborhood by relatives of the bride's ex-husband. As a result of random fire opened at the wedding area, 5 people were injured. Following the incident, great panic occurred at the wedding area, and upon a report to the 112 Emergency Call Center, numerous police and medical teams were dispatched to the area. The 5 people injured in the armed attack were taken to Şehitkamil State Hospital by private vehicles of surrounding citizens. One of the injured taken to the hospital, Murat Kara (32), a father of three, died despite all interventions.
