THEY HAVE MERGED WITH THE SYRIAN GOVERNMENT

At the annual meeting, the organization decided to merge with the Syrian government. Organization Director Munir Mustafa stated at the press conference at the Syrian Ministry of Emergency and Disaster Management that the struggle conducted with commitment to values and principles has brought them to a historic turning point today.

“Today, after 11 years, we are taking an important step for our country with the collapse of the Baath regime and our loyalty to our values,” said Mustafa, “As a structure that extends a helping hand to its people in every corner of Syria, we believe that this decision (to merge with the ministry) will protect the highest interests of the Syrian people. The transfer of critical programs such as emergency response and disaster management to the Syrian Ministry of Emergency and Disaster Management aims to increase national-level coordination and effectiveness. This way, it is aimed to respond to disasters more quickly and in a coordinated manner across the country.”

FOLLOW-UP OF FILES WILL BE TRANSFERRED TO STATE INSTITUTIONS

Mustafa stated that important files of the organization, such as justice and accountability, will be transferred to the relevant state institutions, saying, “(The follow-up of files) will progress more effectively through the state’s institutions.”

Munir Mustafa noted that the merger process between the Syrian Civil Defense (White Helmets) and the Syrian government will take place through a professional transition process in accordance with legal and administrative procedures, and that relevant legal and technical committees will be involved in this process.
