Master of Turkish cinema Kadir İnanır passed away at the age of 77 due to multiple organ failure at the hospital where he was being treated. The first ceremony for İnanır was held at the Harbiye Muhsin Ertuğrul Stage.
"WE WILL BRING THE PEACE HE LONGED FOR" The ceremony was attended by İnanır's family, friends, loved ones, and many political party representatives. Speaking at the ceremony, DEM Party Co-Chair Tuncer Bakırhan said the following in his statement to journalists:
"Condolences to Turkey. We lost a very important artist, a very important democrat. We are diminished by one person. He was a peace-loving individual. He was always on the side of people suffering from rights violations. He was anti-coup in the 80s. Later, he stood by workers and laborers in their struggle for rights. He took part among the wise people in the process that started for the resolution of the Kurdish issue in 2013-2015. Afterwards, he pondered and worked for democratization in Turkey, primarily the Kurdish issue. It is a great loss. He was a very valuable person. He was not just an artist, he was a democrat and a revolutionary. Condolences to Turkey, the Black Sea people, revolutionaries, and democrats. We promise that we will one day bring the peace he longed for to these lands."
