Demirhan Gözaçan, a former provincial executive of the Republican People's Party (CHP) in Manisa, was detained in a pre-dawn operation within the scope of an investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office. It is reported that searches were carried out at the home and vehicle of Gözaçan, who is a close friend of CHP Chairman Özgür Özel.
Following allegations that surfaced publicly where Uşak Mayor Özkan Yalım claimed "I delivered 1 million TL in cash in a bag to a person named Demirhan, whom I know as a close friend of Özgür Özel, near the CHP provincial headquarters in Denizli, upon Özgür Özel's instruction," Demirhan Gözaçan was detained early this morning in Manisa. It was learned that Gözaçan's home and car were searched, and he was taken from the Manisa Provincial Police Department to the Istanbul Provincial Police Department.

In a written statement made by Manisa CHP Provincial Chair İlksen Özalper, it was claimed that slander and defamation campaigns had been waged against Demirhan Gözaçan in recent days, and that the detention was carried out "without authorization."
