DEMONSTRATIONS AND MARCHES BANNED FOR 4 DAYS IN DIYARBAKIR Following the recent protests held in Diyarbakır, the governorship took action. The governorship announced that demonstrations and marches would be banned throughout the city for 4 days, starting from tomorrow.
STATEMENT FROM THE GOVERNORSHIP In a statement made by the Diyarbakır Governorship, it was stated, "Regarding the rally planned to be held on Sunday, January 25, between 11:00 and 18:00 at the İstasyon Square in the Yenişehir district of our province, a detailed assessment was made considering the recent events occurring both within our country and outside our borders, as well as their potential effects on our province. It has been deemed that actions that could disrupt public order and security may intensify before, during, and after the date of the rally, using the rally as a pretext. To ensure peace and security within the provincial borders, the protection of personal inviolability, the safety related to property, and public welfare, as well as the protection of individuals' rights and freedoms,
"DECISION MADE TO PREVENT VIOLENCE INCIDENTS" to prevent the occurrence of violent incidents and to eliminate the aforementioned threats and risks, the following measures have been deemed appropriate by our governorship within the administrative borders of Diyarbakır. Starting from 00:01 on Friday, January 23, 2026, until 23:59 on Monday, January 26, 2026, all actions intended to be held in open areas, such as gatherings, marches, press statements, hunger strikes, sit-ins, rallies, setting up stands, erecting tents, distributing leaflets and brochures, hanging posters and banners, as well as the exit of individuals and vehicles deemed to participate in the rally planned to be held on January 25, 2026, from the outer districts, and/or their entry into the city center, and the entry, transit, and exit of individuals and vehicles coming from other provinces to participate in the aforementioned rally have been prohibited in accordance with Articles 17 and 19 of the Law on Meetings and Demonstrations No. 2911 and Articles 11/A, B, and C of the Provincial Administration Law No. 5442," it was stated.
