While tense days continue between Baku and Ankara due to the headscarf ban in schools in Azerbaijan, it was claimed that the bust in Haydar Aliyev Park in Şişli, Istanbul, would be removed. In its statement, the Center for Combating Disinformation denied the claims.

The Center for Combating Disinformation (DMM) of the Presidency's Directorate of Communications denied claims that the bust located in Haydar Aliyev Park in Şişli, Istanbul, will be removed and the park will be demolished. In the statement, it was stated that Şişli Municipality or relevant institutions do not have any decision or project regarding the area in question.

“CLAIMS THAT THE BUST WILL BE DEMOLISHED ARE UNFOUNDED”

The statement included the following statements: “The claims in some social media accounts that ‘the bust in Haydar Aliyev Park in Şişli will be removed and the area will be demolished and a cultural center will be built in its place’ are unfounded.

“THERE IS NO WORK CARRIED OUT BY THE MUNICIPALITY”

Şişli Municipality has no ongoing work regarding the area in question; such a project is not on the agenda either.

It is respectfully requested that no credence be given to provocative and disinformation claims aimed at misleading the public by targeting the relations between two friendly and brotherly countries.”
