DEVA Party Istanbul Deputy Elif Esen, who attended the Zero Waste Festival that opened its doors at Ataturk Airport, visited the Haberler.com stand and participated in the "Zero Waste in Digital" test. Scoring 80 points on the test by voting on digital cleaning habits, Esen said, "I guess I'm not in bad shape with digital detox," highlighting the importance of using technology in an environmentally friendly way.
The Zero Waste Festival, organized under the leadership of Honorary President of the Zero Waste Foundation Emine Erdoğan, in collaboration with the Zero Waste Foundation and the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources, continues at Atatürk Airport. The festival, which welcomes visitors between June 4-7 with the theme "Efficiency in Energy, Transformation in the Future," has one notable participant: DEVA Party Istanbul Deputy and Deputy Chairperson Elif Esen.
GUEST OF HABERLER.COM
Elif Esen, a guest of Haberler.com, which attracted great attention with its special booth set up in the festival area, tested her digital cleaning habits on a panel prepared with the slogan "Zero Waste in Digital." Answering the questions with green dots, Esen scored 80 points on the test measuring digital waste awareness.
STEP BY STEP "ZERO WASTE IN DIGITAL" TEST
Stating that she is running on a busy schedule due to her parliamentary and party work, Elif Esen gave the following answers to the questions on the panel:
Deleting Unnecessary Files and Photos: Esen, stating that she cleans her phone and computer whenever she gets a chance to prevent clutter, attached the first green dot by saying, "I have to open up new space for my work, so yes, I do it."
Extending Device Lifespans: Emphasizing that the cost of protective and preventive measures is low but their impact is high, Esen said she prefers to use her current device as effectively as possible rather than changing it when a new model comes out.
Recycling Electronic Waste: She stated that instead of delivering old phones and cables to recycling points, she hands them over to young people in need or relatives, ensuring they are reused. Answering "no" to this item, Esen conveyed the message that such recycling centers should be more widespread in society.
Paperless Living and Digital Efficiency: Stating that she uses e-invoices and e-documents and does not take transaction receipts after using ATMs, Esen said, "I think even that tiny piece of paper can harm the environment."
Consuming Data Consciously: She stated that to avoid information clutter, she regularly closes unnecessary background tabs and applications.
COMPLETED WITH 80 POINTS
Completing the test with 80 points, Esen joked, "I guess I'm not in bad shape with digital detox," and thanked Haberler.com and the New Media team for the awareness work.
"WE OWE A THANK YOU TO EMINE ERDOĞAN"
Expressing great joy at the presence of thousands of people, especially children, at the festival, Elif Esen emphasized the critical role of children in carrying zero waste awareness into the future. Thanking the project's architect, Esen said:
"We might owe a debt here to the esteemed wife of our President, Emine Erdoğan. Because it was she who embraced and started the zero waste project in 2017. I especially thank her for her efforts and for the point the project has reached today. This is a valuable stone placed for the future of our country and the world."
