In the statement regarding the 'pork meat' scandal from Köfteci Yusuf, it was noted that many technical errors occurred during the sampling process and that pork meat is never used in their products. Additionally, it was stated that the negative analysis results were reported late in a manner contrary to normal procedures, and that this situation did not allow them to ensure traceability to the necessary extent.

Turkey's famous restaurant chain Köfteci Yusuf has found itself at the center of a major scandal with allegations that it uses pork in its products.

Here is the statement from Köfteci Yusuf;

-Pork is never used in our products.

-On 15.02.2024, a 400-gram sample of cooked döner is taken from one of our branches in Çankaya, Ankara, between 11:25 and 11:40. The analysis result will be available on 27.02.2024.

On 29.02.2024, a 300-gram sample of cooked meatballs is taken from one of our branches in Etimesgut, Ankara, between 14:40 and 15:00.

The analysis result will be available on 07.03.2024.

In both cases, no witness samples are taken from either raw or cooked products. They could have taken witness samples from the raw product as well. Because the genetic test gives the same result regardless of whether it is raw or cooked.

-They could have left a witness sample from the raw product for us. Because we produce in a single center. Those products were not produced in the branches where the detection was made. If there were any negative issues, there would be contamination in all our products, and similar negative situations would be encountered in all 280 of our branches.

-These negative analysis results should have been quickly communicated to the branch where the detection was made as per normal procedure. We were informed about the result of the first analysis on 18.03.2024. According to the usual practice in the Ministry's operations, when a negative result is detected, it is immediately reported to the workplace where the negative detection was made.

-However, contrary to this practice, the notification was made to our headquarters after a long time, not to the branch.

-If the notification had been made directly in this way, all our processes (starting from the supply of the carcass meat; production phase, shipment process, and finally the sale of the product and the sampling) would have been checked, and thus the traceability of the sample taken could have been fully ensured.

-However, since the negative results were communicated to us in a procedurally incorrect manner very late, we are unable to provide the necessary level of traceability.

-Indeed, since the most transparent and acceptable phase of this traceability would be the examination of the camera recordings, it has not been possible for us to access the camera recordings related to the processes of the batch from which the sample was taken.

-During the sample collection processes mentioned above, many technical errors were made, and these errors distort the results of the analyses conducted. We will share all technical details regarding these issues with the public once the legal processes are concluded.

-Following the analysis results that contain the irregularities mentioned above and do not reflect the truth, no negative results were encountered during the inspections conducted on-site at our production facility by the Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and the District Directorate. On the contrary, it was evaluated that our production facility meets hygiene and other suitability conditions.

-It is not possible for our company, which has 280 branches in Turkey and employs 12,000 personnel, to carry out such adulteration as claimed; because it would not be consistent with the normal course of life for a company of this size to take such a risk as mentioned.

-Therefore, it is assessed that the analysis results do not reflect the material truth, and that such a result emerged due to the actions of malicious individuals or due to contamination that occurred in the analysis tests known as genetic tests, in which our company has no internal involvement. As explained above, we are unable to clearly identify the reason for this negative result due to the fact that the analysis results were not communicated to us quickly.

-However, we are confident that such a situation cannot occur as a company.

-The biggest indication of this situation is that the sample taken by the prosecutor's office from the same batch as our döner product, which is claimed to have been adulterated, came out clean and suitable, and additionally, no negative situation has been encountered in any of the official inspections and controls conducted to date.

-The reason we have not made any statements until now is that we do not want to negatively affect the ongoing legal processes and the judiciary. However, at this stage, due to the leak of confidential documents belonging to the Ministry to the press, we felt the necessity to make this statement due to the intense demands of our customers, suppliers, colleagues, and all our friends who are devoted to our brand.

-We are striving with all our strength and belief to uncover this dark conspiracy. We kindly ask everyone who has been following this issue from the beginning to support the clarification of this matter until the end.

-During the sample collection processes mentioned above, many technical errors were made, and these errors distort the results of the analyses conducted. We will share all technical details regarding these issues with the public once the legal processes are concluded. No negative results were encountered during the inspections conducted on-site at our production facility by the Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and the District Directorate.

-On the contrary, it was evaluated that our production facility meets hygiene and other suitability conditions. We are unable to provide the necessary level of traceability due to the fact that the analysis results were not communicated to us quickly, and therefore we cannot clearly identify the reason for this negative result.
