An investigation was initiated ex officio by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office against director İlker Canikligil due to the statements he made in a video and post he shared on social media. Canikligil was detained under the instruction of the prosecutor's office. He had called for the implementation of "Execute Order 66" (mass extermination) against the group he defined as the "lower class," similar to the Star Wars film series.
The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has launched an ex officio investigation against director and YouTube broadcaster İlker Canikligil for calling for a 'massacre' against a group he referred to as 'lower class' in a video content and for a post he made on his social media account.
HE WAS DETAINED
Canikligil was detained on charges of 'publicly inciting to commit a crime' and 'publicly inciting hatred and enmity among the people'. It is expected that after his procedures at the police station, he will be referred to the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office tomorrow.
WHAT HAPPENED?
Canikligil shared a conversation with a taxi driver on his YouTube channel and called for the implementation of 'Execute Order 66' (massacre) from the Star Wars film series against the group he defined as 'lower class'. Canikligil stated: "I'm getting into a taxi now, and there’s someone from the lower class. With a sly grin, he says 'leader', with his tiny mind. I realized that the guy actually hates me. What he is actually saying is; 'You have educated yourself, but my guy will rule you'... So where has that guy brought you? You are always a taxi driver, what has changed in your life? We need to look at those who voted for him. There is only one thing I want to say; 'Execute Order 66'."
