As part of the fight against online child pornography and abuse, 47 suspects were detained in an operation held in Istanbul. The arrested suspects are accused of obtaining and purchasing sexual exploitation content related to underage children through online communication applications and storing this data in digital environments.
The Istanbul Police Department's Cyber Crime Division has carried out a new operation in the fight against online child pornography and abuse.
In the investigations conducted by the Istanbul Anatolian Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, suspects were identified who obtained and stored sexual exploitation content related to children by purchasing it through online communication applications.
47 SUSPECTS DETAINED
After the examination of the digital materials was completed and the content related to the crime was identified, operations were initiated this morning. It was reported that 47 individuals were detained as "suspects" in consecutive raids conducted at many addresses.
ALL ELECTRONIC DEVICES SEIZED
During the searches conducted as part of the operation, it was learned that all technological devices belonging to the suspects, including mobile phones, computers, external storage, and USB drives, were seized.
THEY WERE TAKEN TO VATAN EMNİYET
The 47 suspects who were detained were taken to the Cyber Crime Division located at the Istanbul Police Department's campus on Vatan Street in Fatih for their statements to be taken. It was reported that the interrogation of the suspects would begin in the following hours.
