Phone repairers have warned against leaving mobile phones charging for long periods in extremely hot weather and avoiding counterfeit batteries. Issues such as battery swelling and charger port damage can occur. Experts stated that battery swelling could also lead to explosions.
Phone repair technicians, warning against leaving mobile phones on charge for extended periods in extreme heat, also cautioned citizens against counterfeit batteries.
DO NOT LEAVE ON CHARGE FOR LONG IN HEAT
Due to high air temperatures in summer months, the heating of mobile phone batteries can cause some problems. One of the most common problems is the malfunction of charging integrated circuits. Leaving phone batteries plugged in for too long after charging can shorten the device's lifespan due to swelling. Phone repair technicians advise that phones should not be left charging for long hours in hot weather, while also warning against fake batteries.
"NOT AVAILABLE AT EVERY PHONE SHOP"
Murat Koç, who runs a mobile phone repair shop in Erzincan, pointed out that due to excessive heating of phone batteries during hot months, the device also experiences overheating. Repairman Koç stated that they do not recommend using counterfeit batteries in phones and expressed the following:
"In summer, batteries heat up a lot, causing phones to heat up as well; this leads to battery swelling and some problems. During summer, charging integrated circuits most commonly break due to temperatures. This is also related to the battery. Counterfeit batteries don't usually explode, but they can swell quickly, shorten phone lifespan, and reduce device performance. Therefore, fake batteries are not recommended. There are some quality brands on the market, and those are more preferred. Regular phone shops may not have original batteries for every model. Some model batteries are only available at authorized service centers. Hence, various quality brands from the market are used. We recommend these brands and use them, but we also specify them as grade A batteries."
"ESPECIALLY IN SUMMER, DO NOT KEEP ON CHARGE TOO LONG"
Koç, who stated that when they provide non-original batteries to customers, they indicate they are aftermarket parts, said, "At shops like ours, when citizens bring their phones for battery replacement, they can get them back in about an hour. Since service centers may not always have parts for every model, they might give a timeframe of a week, ten days, or even a month in the legal process. Because technical services face delays and we are more accessible, people prefer us more. Citizens should be careful not to keep their phones on charge for too long, especially in summer. Because the phone heats up during charging. Therefore, the plug should be pulled when the battery is full. This way, both the phone and battery life will be longer. Also, no device should be exposed to direct sunlight," he said.
