A routine check at a cargo center in the Kahramankazan district of Ankara turned into a drug operation worth 300 million lira. Following a narcotics dog's alert, 109 kilograms and 300 grams of drugs were found in 3 packages, and a suspect who came to receive the shipments was arrested.
In the Kahramankazan district of Ankara, at a cargo transfer center, 109 kilograms and 300 grams of drugs were seized from 3 packages checked after a narcotics detector dog reacted. One suspect was arrested in connection with the incident, and a detention warrant was issued for another suspect.
NARCOTICS DOG SIGNALED THE PACKAGES
Within the scope of the investigation conducted by the Kahramankazan Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, routine checks were carried out at a cargo transfer center in the district on August 21.
During the checks, after the narcotics detector dog reacted to 3 separate cargo shipments, the packages were taken into examination. In the packages opened under the supervision of the public prosecutor, drugs, considered to be heroin, weighing a total of 109 kilograms and 300 grams in 210 blocks, were found.
The seized drugs were estimated to have a market value of approximately 300 million TL.
CAUGHT WHILE RECEIVING THE CARGO
Within the scope of the investigation, the cargo shipments were tracked in a controlled manner. As a result of the coordinated work carried out with the Istanbul Provincial Police Department Narcotics Crimes Branch Directorate, Abdurrahman Silinsin, who received the cargo on August 24, was caught and taken into custody.
Silinsin was referred to the Kahramankazan Criminal Judgeship of Peace with a request for arrest after the prosecutor's proceedings. The suspect was arrested by the judgeship on August 25.
DETENTION WARRANT FOR THE SECOND SUSPECT
Following the continuation of technical and judicial investigations, Mehmet Ayatullah Baykurtan, who was considered to be connected to the incident, was also identified. While an arrest warrant was issued for Baykurtan, a seizure measure was also applied to the vehicle he was determined to have used.
It was reported that efforts to catch the suspect are ongoing.
SENDER SIDE ALSO UNDER INVESTIGATION
In order to reveal the connections at the point where the cargo was sent, coordination was also established with the Van Chief Public Prosecutor's Office and the Van Provincial Police Department Narcotics Crimes Branch Directorate.
In this context, the cargo sending process, connected individuals, communication records, and financial movements were put under the microscope.
While criminal and forensic medical examinations and fingerprint studies on the seized substances continue, it was stated that the investigation is also continuing regarding the manufacture and trafficking of drugs or stimulants, as well as the laundering of assets derived from crime.
Within the scope of the investigation, 1 suspect was arrested, and there is a detention warrant for 1 suspect.
