The Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner was caught in severe turbulence, causing passengers to be thrown around the cabin. The footage of the incident was shared on social media platform X by @MarielaJodal. In the video, passengers can be seen being thrown out of their seats and into the aisles, with one passenger getting their legs stuck in the overhead compartment. As the plane continues to shake, worried passengers can be heard talking to each other. The footage also shows a man stuck in the overhead compartment and other passengers lying motionless in the aisle. Following the incident, the plane made an emergency landing in Natal, Brazil. Air Europa, in a statement to the New York Post, said, "The plane landed normally and injuries are being treated." According to Mirror, additional videos have emerged showing torn ceiling panels, dangling oxygen masks, and at least one seat completely damaged. A passenger, speaking to El Observador, described how the journey became dangerous after the pilot called for everyone to fasten their seatbelts due to approaching turbulence. The passenger named Norys said, "There was very light turbulence for a long time. It was barely noticeable. Suddenly, the plane dropped and we were all thrown upwards." Passengers who were not wearing seatbelts reported that they were "flying" and some were "hanging from the ceiling." Another passenger named Juan described the experience as a "horror movie," saying, "The feeling of falling was terrifying. You were aware that you were falling at an incredible speed and it felt like there was no end to it." According to the Uruguayan Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the injured were treated at Monsenhor Walfredo Gurgel Hospital in Natal and arrangements were made for their return to Montevideo.
