After Israel's approval, it was reported that 212 bodies were recovered from the rubble of destroyed houses in the Gaza Strip following the officially established ceasefire.
After hours of negotiations in Israel, a ceasefire was approved and began to be implemented on January 19.
212 BODIES FOUND IN A WEEK
Al Jazeera television reported that after the ceasefire came into effect in the Gaza Strip, 212 bodies were recovered from the rubble of destroyed houses. According to the Palestinian Ministry of Health, more than 14,200 people are reported missing in the region, including 5,000 women and children.
CEASEFIRE AND PRISONER EXCHANGE AGREEMENT
Qatar, one of the mediating countries, announced on January 15 that an agreement had been reached between Israel and Hamas regarding a ceasefire and prisoner exchange in Gaza. The agreement came into effect on Sunday, January 19, at 12:15 PM Turkish time. In the first 42 days of the three-phase ceasefire agreement, 33 Israeli prisoners and over 1,900 Palestinian prisoners will be released.
The military wing of Hamas, the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, delivered 3 Israeli women to the Red Cross team on the first day as part of the first phase of the agreement. 90 Palestinians held in Israeli prisons were also released from the Ofer Military Prison located in the occupied West Bank.
