Sources from the Ministry of National Defense stated that in response to questions about a fight that broke out among Somali soldiers undergoing training in Isparta, 51 Somali personnel were injured, one of them seriously, and that the Somali soldiers who completed their training have been sent back to their country.
In a statement made by the Isparta Governorship on March 18, it was expressed that a fight broke out among Somali soldiers training at General İhsan Alper Barracks after a football match, resulting in 24 Somali soldiers being injured.
"ADMINISTRATIVE AND JUDICIAL INVESTIGATION IS BEING CONDUCTED"
In the statement from the governorship, the following was stated; "The injured have been treated in hospitals in our province, and except for one, the health status of the others is good. As of now, there is no negative situation in the barracks. The administrative and judicial investigation is being conducted by the relevant institutions."
"OUR PERSONNEL WHO INTERVENED IN THE INCIDENT WERE ALSO INJURED"
In response to inquiries about the latest situation, Ministry of National Defense sources stated; "On March 17, 2025, a fight broke out during a football match played among the personnel of the Somali Armed Forces undergoing basic commando training at the 40th Commando Brigade Command. A total of 51 Somali personnel were injured, including one seriously. Some of our personnel who intervened in the incident were also lightly injured. A committee has been assigned to investigate the matter. The Somali soldiers who completed their training have been sent back to their country."
