Dursun Özbek, who received 1,780 votes as the sole candidate in the Extraordinary Elective General Assembly of Galatasaray, was elected president for the 4th time.
The elective ordinary general assembly of Galatasaray Club has been completed.
DURSUN ÖZBEK RE-ELECTED AS PRESIDENT OF GALATASARAY
The 105th term management was determined in the election held at Galatasaray High School, where approximately 10 thousand members had the right to vote. The current president Dursun Özbek, who ran as the sole candidate, was re-elected as president with 1780 valid votes.
WILL BE THE SECOND LONGEST-SERVING PRESIDENT
Galatasaray Club President Dursun Özbek will become the second person to serve the longest as president in the club's history if he completes his term in the new period.
Özbek, who will enter his fourth term as president of Galatasaray Club, will become the second longest-serving president after the club's founder Ali Sami Yen if he completes his 2-year term in the new period.
Having sat in the presidential seat for approximately 6 years and 7 months to date, Özbek will surpass Suphi Batur (8 years 2 months), Selahattin Beyazıt (7 years 8 months), and Ali Uras (7 years 1 month) to rise to second place.
In the club's 121-year history, 38 different individuals have served as president, while founder and first president Ali Sami Yen tops this list with approximately 14 years of service.
ENTERING HIS FOURTH TERM
With this election, Dursun Özbek will enter his 4th term as president. Özbek was part of Ünal Aysal's team when he was president of Galatasaray in 2011, but left the position shortly after by his own will. In 2014, after Duygun Yarsuvat was elected president of Galatasaray, he was elected to the Galatasaray Sports Club Board of Directors and became vice president.
In the election held at the 2015 Galatasaray Sports Club Ordinary Election General Assembly Meeting, Dursun Özbek, supported by former president Duygun Yarsuvat, was elected as the 36th President of Galatasaray.
Dursun Aydın Özbek experienced his second presidential term at Galatasaray during the Extraordinary Election General Assembly held in June 2022, and was re-elected president at the Ordinary Election General Assembly Meeting in May 2024, entering his third term.
