The 5.6 magnitude earthquake that occurred in Malatya in the morning hours caused panic throughout the city. The evacuation moments at a school for the visually impaired during the earthquake drew appreciation. The footage showed school administrators and teachers quickly carrying students out of the building as the tremor began.
Also captured on camera were the moments when Sergen Savucu, a student with intellectual and orthopedic disabilities from Ali Kuşcu Special Education Practice School, was carried to safety in the arms of his teachers Gökhan Aydoğdu and Yunus Güngörü. It was seen that students were evacuated to a safe area in a short time.
GOVERNOR YAVUZ COMMENDED THE TEACHERS
Malatya Governor Seddar Yavuz, praising the composure and coordination shown by the teachers during the earthquake, said in a statement on his social media account: 'The effort of our teachers at the School for the Visually Impaired during the earthquake once again made us say, 'This is what a teacher is.' I thank our valuable teachers very much.'
