MISSING FOR 10 YEARS
Ayşen Aycan (21), living in the Çivril district, disappeared one week after divorcing her husband Turgay Bekdeda (40) in 2016. Search efforts were conducted in the region for Aycan, but no trace of the missing woman was found. In connection with cold case files initiated by the Ministry of Justice, the Çivril Chief Public Prosecutor's Office reopened Ayşen Aycan's case after 10 years.
6 PEOPLE DETAINED
Teams from the Denizli Provincial Police Department's Public Order Branch, Homicide Bureau, resumed work on Ayşen Aycan's case. The homicide bureau teams conducted a detailed review of the file and took various statements. Following the investigation, in an operation on May 19 in the Çivril district, the homicide bureau teams detained a total of 6 people, including Turgay Bekdeda, the divorced husband who owns a car wash business, in connection with the missing Ayşen Aycan.
EX-HUSBAND CONFESSED TO KILLING AND BURYING HER
Police teams, assessing that Ayşen Aycan had been killed and buried 10 years ago, subjected her divorced husband Turgay Bekdeda to cross-examination. In his statement, Bekdeda confessed to killing and burying his missing ex-wife. Bekdeda stated that 10 years ago, he took Ayşen Aycan from her mother's house, they argued in the car, he beat her to death, and then buried her in an empty plot between the Kıralan and Tokça neighborhoods.
BONE FRAGMENTS FOUND
A search operation was launched with heavy machinery in the area pointed out by Bekdeda. Human bone fragments were found during the work and sent to the Forensic Medicine morgue. After the police interrogation, 5 individuals were released by the prosecutor's office, while Bekdeda, who confessed to killing his ex-wife, was arrested by the court at the Çivril Courthouse and sent to prison.
