Following Şanlıurfa, the Gaziantep Governorate announced that inspections were conducted in 61 schools after the severe rain and storm on May 3, while education was suspended for 2 days in 23 schools due to repairs, and at Yunus Emre Anatolian High School in Şahinbey, there will be a 3-day suspension.
The Gaziantep Governorship reported that heavy rainfall, storms, hail, landslides, and floods that affected the city on May 3, 2026, caused damage to some schools. In a statement from the governorship, it was noted that engineers conducted on-site inspections in 61 schools across the province.
EDUCATION SUSPENDED IN GAZIANTEP
As a result of the evaluations, it was stated that repair work in some schools has been completed, while other schools will be temporarily relocated to different schools or undergo short-term repairs.
In this context, education was suspended in 24 schools starting from May 5, 2026. Education was paused for 2 days in 23 schools, while at Yunus Emre Anatolian High School in the Şahinbey district, education was suspended for 3 days.
