Eight mayors from the same party switched to the AK Party.

On March 31, local government elections saw 13 mayors, including those who were elected from other parties and resigned from their parties, join the AK Party. President Erdoğan presented the badges of the mayors, 8 of whom were from the New Welfare Party, at his party's group meeting in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey.

HERE ARE THE MAYORS WHO JOINED THE AK PARTY;

• Halil İbrahim Karabulut, Mayor of Ikiköprü Town in Batman, who resigned from the DEM Party
• Selahattin Aysu, Mayor of Yayladüzü Town in Ağrı, from the New Welfare Party
• İlhami Zeyrek, Mayor of Yücekapı Town in Ağrı, from the New Welfare Party
• İsmet Aslan, Mayor of Hamur District in Ağrı, from the New Welfare Party
• Alpaslan Karabulut, Mayor of Beşiri District in Batman, who resigned from the New Welfare Party
• Hamza Bilgin, Mayor of Arsin District in Trabzon, from the New Welfare Party
• İmadeddin Ekmiş, Mayor of Merkez Town in Batman, who resigned from the New Welfare Party
• Sedat Uçar, Mayor of Yedisu District in Bingöl, who resigned from the Good Party
• Mustafa Duran, Mayor of Köseli Town in Çiçekdağı, Kırşehir, who resigned from the DP
• Mehmet Ali Yılmaz, Mayor of Yalıhüyük District in Konya, who resigned from the New Welfare Party
