The operation, conducted by the Navy and Special Forces, involved approximately 100 soldiers, 6 helicopters, and 4 aircraft. It was reported that Silva, also wanted by the US, had been tracked for about 19 months and was captured while trying to hide in a trench to avoid arrest.
CAPTURED WITHOUT CONFLICT Despite having a security team of about 60 people and a convoy of 30 vehicles, the operation was completed without any clashes. It was learned that the US had placed a $5 million reward for information leading to Silva's capture.
VIOLENCE AFTER CAPTURE Following El Jardinero's capture, cartel members began setting vehicles on fire and blocking roads. In Nayarit state, the public was warned "do not go out unless necessary." Vehicles, warehouses, and businesses were set on fire in some cities.
