In Istanbul, within the scope of the investigation conducted into the crime of 'laundering assets derived from crime,' businessman Emir Sarıgül, son of New Party MP Mustafa Sarıgül, who was in custody, has been arrested.
"CLEAR THE EMERGENCY LANE"
As the repercussions of the incident continue, footage has emerged showing Emir Sarıgül, using his father's influence, announcing from his vehicle equipped with flashing lights that vehicles in the emergency lane should move aside. In those moments, Emir Sarıgül can be heard calling out to citizens in traffic, "Clear the emergency lane and continue on the left, my friend."
HOW DID THE INVESTIGATION BEGIN?
The investigation began following a complaint by two German citizens. The German complainants alleged that transactions were carried out through companies to launder large amounts of black money of unknown origin. The complainants claimed that money worth 100 million euros was illegally taken abroad, and that a fund amounting to 1 billion euros was promised to be transferred abroad via a loan. After handing over the relevant documents to journalist Murat Ağırel, the German citizens alleged that they were threatened. Following these statements, the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office launched an investigation.
