Trabzonspor's head coach Şenol Güneş made statements before the match against Beşiktaş. Speaking about returning to Beşiktaş's stadium after many years, Güneş said, "When I first came to Beşiktaş, this stadium did not exist. Güneş, regarding the death of 14-year-old Mattia Ahmet Minguzzi, said, "We lost another child. Unfortunately, he closed his eyes to life at the age of 14. I remember him with mercy. Trabzonspor Technical Director Şenol Güneş came to Tüpraş Stadium as a rival coach after more than 12 years. Güneş, who experienced two league championships with Beşiktaş, faced the black-and-whites from the Trabzonspor bench after 4,500 days. The experienced coach last faced Beşiktaş while leading Trabzonspor in a match that ended 1-1 at the then-named İnönü Stadium on October 21, 2012. Güneş will be in front of the old team’s fans as a rival coach at Tüpraş Stadium after 12 years, 3 months, and 25 days. Güneş also faced Beşiktaş during the 2014-2015 season when he was coaching Bursaspor, but the black-and-whites were playing their home matches at Atatürk Olympic Stadium that season.
