In the Jeffrey Epstein case, a critical move came from the controversial billionaire's former girlfriend and associate, Ghislaine Maxwell. Maxwell's legal team officially filed a request with the New York Federal Court to prevent the release of approximately 90,000 pages of new documents that could change the course of the case.

A new legal process has begun in the case of Jeffrey Epstein, who was accused of establishing a sexual abuse network targeting underage girls in the U.S. and died in prison in 2019. Lawyers for Ghislaine Maxwell, who was tried and convicted as Epstein's accomplice, filed a petition in federal court to prevent the release of approximately 90,000 pages of new documents to the public.

"DISCLOSURE IS ILLEGAL"

Maxwell's legal team applied to the federal court in New York to halt the publication of the documents. The petition argued that the documents were previously under a confidentiality order and that their release could lead to illegal consequences.

The lawyers also claimed that the public disclosure of numerous witness statements and personal and sensitive information contained in the case could violate both the principles of fair trial and the right to privacy.

The defense argued that the legal regulation requiring the publication of Epstein-related documents is contrary to the constitutional principle of separation of powers. According to the lawyers, the legislature's direct intervention in the disclosure of documents under judicial review exceeds legal boundaries.

WHAT'S IN THE 90,000-PAGE FILE?

It is reported that the file, which is on the agenda for publication, contains transcripts of testimonies from past civil lawsuits, financial records, and various correspondences. It is stated that a significant portion of the documents consists of materials collected during the investigation process regarding Epstein and Maxwell.

LEGAL BATTLE CONTINUES

It remains to be seen how the court will decide regarding the defense's request. The decision is considered to potentially affect both the scope of new information to be disclosed to the public regarding the Epstein case and the boundaries of confidentiality practices in similar cases.

The issue of publishing documents related to the Epstein case has long been at the center of discussions on transparency and victims' rights in the U.S.
