US President Donald Trump, who stated that negotiations with Iran are going well, made a striking demand. Trump called for Türkiye, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Jordan, and Pakistan to also join the Abraham Accords, which include Israel.
US President Donald Trump said negotiations with Iran are "going well," arguing that regional countries party to the agreement should simultaneously join the Abraham Accords.
TRUMP: IT WILL EITHER BE A DEAL OR NOT
In a post on his social media account, Trump stated that negotiations with Iran are "going well." The US President said, "It will either be a great deal for everyone, or there will be no deal at all, and we will go back to war, but bigger and stronger than ever, and no one wants that."
"THEY MUST JOIN THE ABRAHAM ACCORDS"
Recalling that over the weekend he held talks with leaders from Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Jordan, and Pakistan, including Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Trump claimed that these countries should join the Abraham Accords.
Stressing that some countries might have certain reasons for not joining the Abraham Accords and that this could be understood, Trump argued that for the deal with Iran to become a "historic event," most countries need to be "willing and ready."
Claiming that the Abraham Accords have brought an "economic and social boom" to participating countries, Trump asserted that the leaders of the mentioned countries said they would be "honored" for Iran to join the Abraham Accords after a deal with the US.
WHAT ARE THE ABRAHAM ACCORDS?
The Abraham Accords are a series of bilateral agreements signed in 2020 under the mediation of the US, aiming to fully normalize relations and establish diplomatic and commercial ties between Israel and some Arab countries (the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Morocco, and Sudan). They are named after the Prophet Abraham, considered the common ancestor of the three major monotheistic religions in the Middle East (Judaism, Christianity, and Islam).
