293 suspects were apprehended in operations against illegal betting and qualified fraud organized by the Ministry of Interior in 34 provinces. In operations organized by the Ministry of Interior in 34 provinces, a heavy blow was dealt to illegal betting and fraud networks, which President Recep Tayyip Erdogan frequently sends messages about fighting. While 293 suspects were arrested, whose accounts showed activity of 4.8 billion lira, 159 of them were detained.
SIMULTANEOUS OPERATION IN 34 PROVINCES
The operations, conducted in coordination with the Gendarmerie General Command Cyber Crime Combat Department, MASAK, and Chief Public Prosecutor's Offices, were carried out in 34 provinces, including Adana, Ankara, Istanbul, Izmir, Antalya, Bursa, and Diyarbakir.
It was determined that during the operations, the suspects operated illegal betting, facilitated the transfer of crime proceeds, and defrauded citizens through fake advertisements posted on social media.
4.8 BILLION LIRA ACTIVITY DETECTED
In examinations conducted by MASAK, a total money movement of 4 billion 800 million lira was detected in the accounts of the suspects. Numerous digital materials and various documents were seized as part of the operations.
159 SUSPECTS ARRESTED
A total of 293 suspects were taken into custody in the operations. Of the suspects, 159 were arrested, while a judicial control decision was made for 94 individuals. It was reported that procedures for the other suspects are ongoing.
ERDOGAN GAVE FIGHTING MESSAGE
President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, in his recent statements, stated that they are determined in the fight against illegal betting, virtual gambling, and fraud networks, using the phrase "We will uproot them" for these structures.
The latest operation is considered the last link in the state's comprehensive fight against illegal betting and cyber fraud networks.
