The Social Security Institution (SGK) has reorganized the examination contribution fees in public and private hospitals with the new Health Implementation Notification. According to the new tariff, the contribution fee for private hospitals has increased to 100 TL, while a 50 percent discount will be applied to patients who apply to the hospital with a family physician referral.

With the new regulation published in the Official Gazette and put into effect, the fee schedule that citizens will pay while benefiting from health services has been updated. According to the amendment made in the Health Implementation Notification (HIN); no participation fee will be charged for physician and dentist examinations in primary healthcare institutions (family health centers, etc.), as before. However, fees have been increased in secondary and tertiary healthcare institutions depending on the nature of the hospital.

HERE ARE THE NEW PARTICIPATION FEES ITEM BY ITEM

According to the new tariff, the examination participation fee amounts determined based on the nature of the hospitals have been updated as follows:

  • Secondary Level Public Healthcare Institutions: 50 TRY
  • Training and Research / Tertiary Level Public Hospitals: 90 TRY
  • Public University Hospitals: 90 TRY
  • Foundation University and Private Hospitals: 100 TRY

50% DISCOUNT FOR THOSE REFERRED BY A FAMILY PHYSICIAN

The most notable and advantageous provision of the new regulation for citizens is the 'referral' practice. With this step aimed at shifting the congestion in the healthcare system to primary care, patients will gain a financial advantage when directed to hospitals:

"The examination participation fee to be paid by patients who apply to healthcare institutions after being referred by family physicians contracted or authorized by the Ministry of Health will be collected at a 50% discount."

TIME LIMIT EXTENDED FROM 5 DAYS TO 30 DAYS

Another significant change in the notification concerns the time restriction on procedures. Within the scope of the regulation, the time limit previously applied as 5 days has been increased exactly sixfold to 30 days. The new participation fee amounts and applications officially came into effect in all healthcare institutions with the publication of the decision in the Official Gazette.
