Preparations are in full swing at Sinop City Stadium ahead of the crucial match between Turkey and Switzerland as part of the 2027 FIFA Women's World Cup European Qualifiers. Governor Mustafa Özarslan and Member of Parliament Nazım Maviş conducted inspections at the stadium to assess the current situation.
As part of the 2027 FIFA Women's World Cup European Qualifiers, the Turkey Women's National Football Team will face the Switzerland Women's National Team on April 18 in Sinop. The match, which will be attended by the Minister of Youth and Sports Osman Aşkın Bak, will also mark the official opening of the Sinop City Stadium.
PREPARATIONS WERE INSPECTED ON SITE Sinop Governor Mustafa Özarslan, along with AK Party Sinop Deputy Nazım Maviş, Provincial Gendarmerie Commander J. Col. Hakan Başaklıgil, Provincial Police Chief Sibel Kılıçoğlu, Provincial Director of Youth and Sports, and protocol members, inspected the ongoing preparations at the Sinop City Stadium.
After the inspections, Governor Özarslan made statements, drawing attention to the changes in sports infrastructure, saying: "A sports and infrastructure transformation is taking place all over Turkey. In Sinop, not only this stadium but dozens of sports facilities have been gained by our province and districts. This is happening as a result of a goal to create a sports culture for our youth. I wholeheartedly believe that all our fellow citizens of Sinop, from 7 to 70, will support our Women's A National Football Team in the stands with great excitement along with their spouses and children on April 18. Let’s experience this enthusiasm together here. Our Sinop is a beautiful province with its culture, history, gastronomy, and nature; I believe that by combining its hospitality, we will have a good day and experience a happy historical moment. All our preparations have been made; we are taking all necessary precautions from health to security and traffic."
Deputy Nazım Maviş emphasized the importance of the national match, stating: "The fact that a national match will be held in a province like Sinop is valuable for us. This match is being held in our province thanks to this stadium. With the participation of our Minister of Youth and Sports Osman Aşkın Bak, we will officially open our stadium, and with the support of our Federation, we will have a national match in this stadium. This is very valuable for us; our Women's National Football Team will have their World Cup qualifying matches here. Thus, we will have opened our stadium in Sinop and held a national match in Sinop. In the evaluation meeting we held today, we saw that all preparations for this important match, which is just a few days away, are being meticulously followed. Strong coordination is being made in health, security, electricity, internet, transportation, and many other areas. On that day, football fans from Sinop and all districts will come to this stadium with their families to watch our Women's National Team, and the administrators of our province are making all necessary preparations to ensure that our fellow citizens have a safe, healthy, comfortable, and enjoyable match experience. All necessary precautions are being taken."
