LEAK CAUSES VIOLENT EXPLOSION
Tense moments occurred in the production section of a chemical factory operating in the Velimeşe Mahallesi Organized Industrial Zone in Tekirdağ's Ergene district. A leak in the chemical-filled reactor tank at the factory caused a violent explosion.
CBRN AND AFAD TEAMS DEPLOYED
Following the explosion report, numerous gendarmerie, health, fire brigade, and AFAD teams were swiftly dispatched to the factory. Due to the chemical risk, Chemical Biological Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) experts were also directed to the scene. AFAD and CBRN teams conducted a meticulous inspection at the facility after the explosion against a potential chemical leak spread.
PRECAUTIONS WITH SPECIAL SUITS AT THE HOSPITAL
The 4 workers injured in the explosion were taken to Çorlu State Hospital by ambulances after initial intervention at the scene. High-level precautions were taken at the hospital against the risk of chemical substance contact.
Teams in special protective suits cordoned off the area and placed it under quarantine at the entrance of the CBRN Decontamination Unit at Çorlu State Hospital.
Among the injured receiving treatment at the hospital, one worker in serious condition was transferred to Istanbul for advanced care after initial intervention.
Following the incident, gendarmerie teams launched a comprehensive investigation to determine the exact cause of the explosion at the factory.
