Recently, the airport in Sudan, an African country where civil war has intensified, was targeted by the rebel group Rapid Support Forces (RSF). Authorities stated that flights to the city's airport have been suspended until security is ensured.

Witnesses confirmed the explosions that occurred in Port Sudan. The Sudanese government has not yet made a statement regarding possible casualties.

An army source emphasized that the attack targeted military bases. The source stated that another drone targeted the main army base in the city center. The army source also noted that witnesses reported that a hotel was also hit in the same area. Authorities recorded that the RSF carried out the attacks using drones. The first statement from the Sudanese government emphasized that damage assessment work is ongoing.

CONFLICTS IN SUDAN HAVE INTENSIFIED

The Sudanese army announced on May 4 that the RSF had launched a drone attack targeting Port Sudan. It was stated that the army headquarters located in the city was targeted in the attack. Authorities expressed that there were no casualties as a result of the attack.

In Sudan, the capital Khartoum was under the control of rebels for 23 months and was retaken from the RSF during operations conducted from March 20 to 12, 2025.
