Extradition call for Yavuz Usta in Bulgaria: Victims await action

Victims stating they were defrauded of millions of liras with the promise of high profits in the forex market have called on authorities to extradite the main suspect, Yavuz Usta, who is wanted with a red notice, to Turkey. Claiming that the suspect is in Bulgaria, the victims cite the example of Çiftlik Bank founder Mehmet Aydın being brought from Brazil and demand that the same determination be shown in this case and that justice be served.

Victims who stated that they lost millions of liras in the forex system claimed that Yavuz Usta, who is sought with a red notice, is in Bulgaria. The victims demand that Usta be brought to Turkey to shed light on the money flow and complete the judicial process.

ÇİFTLİK BANK EXAMPLE TRIGGERED ACTION

One of the most notable examples of the extradition of fraud suspects who fled abroad was Çiftlik Bank founder Mehmet Aydın. A red notice was issued for Aydın on March 19, 2018, and following Turkey's persistent extradition requests, Aydın surrendered in Brazil on July 1, 2021, and was brought to Turkey. Forex victims also want similar determination to be shown in the Yavuz Usta process.

OPERATION IN NINE PROVINCES: 11 DETAINEES

Yavuz Usta's name came to the fore with a large-scale forex operation held in nine provinces centered in Istanbul on November 24, 2023. Following a five-month investigation, 11 of the 25 suspects detained, including Usta, were arrested on November 29, 2023. In the investigation, it was determined that the money of investors drawn into the system with the promise of high returns was manipulated and zeroed out.

42 COMPANIES INCLUDED IN THE INDICTMENT

In the 178-page indictment accepted by the Bakırköy 9th Heavy Penal Court, 42 companies, most of which were shell companies, were included. According to data reflected in the file, the total loss of only five victims reaches approximately 35.6 million liras at the exchange rate on the date of the incident. Musa Ekmekcioğlu reported losing 211,500 dollars, Mustafa Koç 19 million liras, Sabri Karataş 5 million liras, İlhami Teymur 2.5 million liras, and Ahmet Altan 3 million liras.

SUSPICIOUS MONEY FLOW OF 130 MILLION LIRAS

In the investigation file, a money flow of 130 million liras transferred from companies under the control of the suspects to a foreign exchange company was also examined.

EXPECTATION OF USTA'S EXTRADITION FROM BULGARIA

Victims, stating that Yavuz Usta, who is sought with a red notice, is in the neighboring country Bulgaria, called on authorities. It is requested that Usta be captured and extradited to Turkey through cooperation between the authorities of the two countries.
