At the Supreme Military Council, which will convene today at Bestepe under the chairmanship of President Erdogan, the files for the promotion, retirement, and appointment of 332 generals and admirals will be discussed. Minister of Justice Akin Gurlek, Minister of Interior Mustafa Ciftci, and Land Forces Commander General Metin Tokel will participate in the meeting for the first time. In the meeting where critical decisions will be made, the decisions will be announced after the President's approval.
The Presidential Complex will host the critical Supreme Military Council (YAŞ) meeting closely concerning the command cadre of the Turkish Armed Forces. Under the chairmanship of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, significant decisions regarding promotions, retirements, and appointments are expected to be made during the meeting.
During the meeting, the files of personnel to be promoted from colonel to general and admiral, as well as generals and admirals to be promoted to the next rank, will be discussed. Additionally, personnel to be retired due to lack of positions and age limits will also be determined.
3 NAMES WILL ATTEND THE YAŞ MEETING FOR THE FIRST TIME
The critical meeting at Beştepe will begin after the Supreme Military Council members visit Anıtkabir. Justice Minister Akın Gürlek, Interior Minister Mustafa Çiftçi, and Commander of the Land Forces, General Metin Tokel, will attend the meeting chaired by President Erdoğan for the first time.
The council members consist of the following names:
Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz, Minister of National Defense Yaşar Güler, Justice Minister Akın Gürlek, Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, Interior Minister Mustafa Çiftçi, Minister of Treasury and Finance Mehmet Şimşek, Minister of National Education Yusuf Tekin, Chief of the General Staff General Selçuk Bayraktaroğlu, Commander of the Naval Forces Admiral Ercüment Tatlıoğlu, Commander of the Air Forces General Ziya Cemal Kadıoğlu, and Commander of the Land Forces General Metin Tokel.
PROMOTIONS, RETIREMENTS, AND APPOINTMENTS WILL BE DISCUSSED
During the Supreme Military Council meeting, the files of personnel to be promoted from colonel to general and admiral, as well as generals and admirals to be promoted to the next rank, will be discussed. Personnel to be retired due to lack of positions and age limits will also be determined during the meeting.
In addition to promotion and retirement files, potential duty changes within the force commands are also expected to be evaluated.
DECISIONS WILL BE ANNOUNCED AFTER ERDOĞAN'S APPROVAL
Decisions to be made by the Supreme Military Council will be shared with the public after President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's approval.
The terms of office for Chief of the General Staff General Selçuk Bayraktaroğlu and Commander of the Land Forces General Metin Tokel, who took office last year, are ongoing.
On the other hand, if they are retired, the names of Admiral Kadir Yıldız, Commander of the Naval Forces Command, and General Rafet Dalkıran, Commander of the Air Force Combat Command, stand out for the Naval Forces Command and the Air Forces Command, respectively.
COMMANDERS AWAITING PROMOTION ALSO ON THE AGENDA
The YAŞ meeting will also evaluate whether some commanders currently serving at the rank of lieutenant general will be promoted to the next rank.
The promotion files of Lieutenant General Zorlu Topaloğlu from the Land Forces Command and Lieutenant Generals İsmail Günaydın, Erdoğan Gür, and İsmail Üner from the Air Forces Command are among the important agenda items of the meeting.
