Following the transfer of CarrefourSA to Yeni Mağazacılık A.Ş., the owner of A101, allegations have surfaced that the company has halted its supply of alcoholic beverages. While Pamukkale Şarapçılık Board Chair Selda Tokat and economics columnist Uğur Gürses have claimed that alcohol sales will cease once current stocks are depleted, Yeni Mağazacılık has not yet made an official statement on the matter.
Following the official completion of CarrefourSA's transfer to Yeni Mağazacılık A.Ş., the owner of A101, striking claims regarding the company's product policy have come to the fore. In posts made on social media, it was alleged that CarrefourSA has stopped its supply of alcoholic beverages and that after existing stocks run out, the sale of alcoholic beverages in stores will come to an end. The company has not yet made an official statement regarding the claims.
WINE PRODUCER'S "I'M SORRY" POST
One of the names that brought the claims to the agenda was Selda Tokat, Chairwoman of the Board of Pamukkale Şarapçılık. In her post on her social media account, Tokat stated that the brand they produce will no longer be sold in CarrefourSA stores, using the words, "I'm sorry."
UĞUR GÜRSES: SALES WILL END WHEN EXISTING STOCKS RUN OUT
Economics writer Uğur Gürses also alleged in his post on his social media account that CarrefourSA has stopped purchasing alcoholic beverages from suppliers.
In his post, Gürses used the words, "Carrefour has stopped purchasing alcoholic beverages from suppliers. They say sales will also end when existing stocks run out... The most wondered question about Carrefour sold to A101 has found its answer." These statements caused a wide repercussion on social media.
NO STATEMENT FROM THE COMPANY YET
Following these claims, all eyes turned to CarrefourSA's new owner, Yeni Mağazacılık A.Ş. However, as of the time the news was prepared, no official statement has been made by the company regarding the alcoholic beverage sales policy or the supply process.
Therefore, the claims that alcoholic beverage sales will completely come to an end have not been confirmed by the company.
CARREFOURSA'S TRANSFER WAS COMPLETED
The process regarding the transfer of the portion of CarrefourSA shares corresponding to 89.28 percent to Yeni Mağazacılık A.Ş., the owner of A101, officially concluded after the completion of necessary legal approvals, primarily from the Competition Authority. Thus, while the partnership of Sabancı Holding and the Carrefour Group in CarrefourSA came to an end, the management control of the company passed to Yeni Mağazacılık. The transfer transaction was carried out within the scope of the share transfer agreement previously signed between the parties.
