No news has been received for 72 days from Uğur Çalışkan (27), who went missing after leaving the apart hotel where he was staying in Antakya district of Hatay. His family appealed to the authorities, asking for support to find their son.
HE LEFT THROUGH THE WINDOW AT NIGHT AND NEVER RETURNED
The incident occurred on February 19, 2026, in Serinyol neighborhood of Antakya. Uğur Çalışkan, who came to Hatay from Van for work, exited through the window of his second-floor room at the apart hotel where he was staying with his cousins, for an unknown reason in the early morning, and descended into the garden. It was learned that he attempted to climb back into the room from the exterior facade but, failing to do so, left the area.
SEARCH LAUNCHED AFTER MISSING PERSON REPORT
In the morning, relatives who could not find Çalışkan reviewed security camera footage and reported the situation to the police. Following the report, a large-scale search operation was initiated in the area with the participation of gendarmerie, AFAD, and volunteer teams.
CLOTHES FOUND ON THE 7TH DAY
On the 7th day of the search efforts, clothes believed to belong to Çalışkan were found in a wooded area near Serinyol. However, despite this discovery, no trace of the young man was found in the remaining time.
FAMILY REACTS TO CLAIMS
Tarık Çalışkan, the missing man's brother, denied claims in some media outlets that his brother was a "bipolar patient." Stating that his brother has no psychiatric diagnosis, Çalışkan expressed that these claims do not reflect the truth.
APPEAL TO MINISTER ÇİFTÇİ
Saying the family is in a desperate state, Tarık Çalışkan called on Interior Minister Mustafa Çiftçi, stating: "We haven't been able to reach my brother for 72 days. If he's in the forest, why hasn't he been found? If he's in the city, why hasn't he been located? See us, hear us. As a family, we are helpless. Please be a light for us."
Authorities stated that the investigation into the incident continues, and efforts to find Uğur Çalışkan are ongoing.
