Canadian actor Peter Helm, one of the recognizable faces of American television in the 1960s and remembered for his role in the film "The Andromeda Strain," has died at his home in West Hills at the age of 84. His close friend David Timmerman announced that the famous actor passed away in his sleep. Helm, who also appeared in cult series such as "Bonanza" and "Perry Mason," worked as a producer and educator after retiring from acting.

Besides cinema, the actor was also active on Broadway, sharing the stage in 1960 with legendary names like Jane Fonda in the play "There Was a Little Girl."

Peter Helm played his last on-screen role in 1971 with the series "The Smith Family," after which he gradually stepped away from acting. In 1991, he founded the production company "GeoMediapro" in Vancouver, began working as a director and producer, and also served as an instructor at the Vancouver Film School. Outside of the arts, the famous figure was a complete enthusiast of aviation, photography, and automobiles, and had founded a Ferrari club in Los Angeles. In his personal life, he was married to actress Brooke Bundy from 1962 to 1966, and with his daughter Tiffany Helm also entering the industry, he continued the family's acting tradition.
